I just heard thunder. Several. Loud. Ones. It’s been cold and rainy all day long, and all I can think about is what’s for dinner? For a cold day like this, I think anyone would agree with me on eating something hot, and preferrably soupy, to warm your body and soul. I’m a huge fan of hot pot (pictured right), so The Red Pot comes to mind. Hot pot is a Mongolian type of food where you get to cook everything in a boiling pot of soup base that varies in flavors. You cook your own beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, fish, quail eggs, tofu, etc. and various veggies. Now I’m hungry just talking about it.
But then, a hot bowl of bun bo Hue (pictured left) would be nice, too. Bun bo Hue is a type of Vietnamese rice noodle soup, originated from Central Vietnam. Kinda like pho, but the soup is much more flavorful. And reddish. Serves with thin slices of marinated and boiled beef shank, chunks of oxtail, Vietnamese sausage, pork, cubes of congealed pig blood, and pig’s nuckles. Sounds pretty exotic, right? 😉
Great, now I can’t decide.
