Loving Hut, Orange, CA

I’ve been eating so much meat the last couple weeks so I thought a little vegan food might give me a nice healthy refreshing break. I came to Loving Hut with my vegetarian mom for a vegan lunch after our little shopping trip. She had recommended this place to me before; not sure how she knows about it before me ๐Ÿ˜€ but this was her first time eating here. She was surprised that it turned out to be a Vietnamese vegan restaurant, which was even better for her.

Loving Hut makes many popular Vietnamese dishes, vegan style, replacing meats with soy and vegetables. Nothing they make has any kind of animal products (ie. eggs). Their menu includes appetizers and entrees, ranging from spring rolls, golden wontons and nuggets, fried rice, grilled / lemon grass / BBQ “chicken,” eggplant tofu, pho, noodle soup, vegan burgers, philly “steak,” fries, chowmein, noodle soup, wonton soup, wraps, etc. It was so hard to choose.

We decided to try the grilled noodleย – bowl of dry yellow noodle with slices of soy and mushrooms that tasted like pork, came with a small bowl of soup, and extra seasoning sauce. It was yummy. The noodle has a smoky grilled flavor to it and tasted great when drizzled with the sweet soy sauce.

We also tried hoanh thanh chien, or crispy golden wontons, shaped like Chinese gold nuggets. They were filled with blended tofu and veggies inside which was quite filling. And I loved the spicy, sweet and sour tomato sauce for dipping.

The service is super friendly. Our server was a nice guy, with whom my mom seemed to have a nice time conversing about vegetarian food and restaurants. I found out he’s been a vegetarian for about fifteen years so he knows all the vegetarian restaurants around and knows how they should taste. ๐Ÿ™‚

My mom likes this place so much she now tasked me with picking up food from this place for her on my way home from work. Yay? ๐Ÿ˜›
