Kickin’ Crab, Westminster, CA

Seeing that I ate at The Seafood Shack, which is a similar Cajun/Creole crawfish place, my friend suggested that maybe I should try Kickin’ Crab, too, and compare. So I thought, sure why not. I mean, one or two more crawfish houses and I will have eaten at all of Cajun crawfish restaurants in all of Orange County! Haha.

It’s cheaper if you pick one of the 3 combos. We went for the first one – $29.99 which includes 2lbs crawfish OR 2lbs shrimp (you can also do 1lb each), 1lb clams, 2 corns, 4 sausages, 2 potatoes. I don’t like potatoes so I asked if I could substitute for sausages and they happily obliged. Brownie points! Although later our bag was brought out to us WITH potatoes in it so we had to remind them. But I’ll let that slide. 🙂 I like having all seasonings mixed up in my crawfish so I went with the “Kickin’ Style” which has all of their lemon pepper, Cajun Louisiana, garlic butter flavors meshed together. I like that there’s a whole lotta garlic in the bag.

I really wanted to try either the dungeness crab or lobster, but it was a lot of food so in the end, I was glad I didn’t go with Combo #2.

I LOVED the Cajun fries. I had them make it extra crispy so they were perfect. I think we both chowed it all down fairly quickly. 😀

This is us having fun with our food. 😀 We found in our bag a couple of really big crawfish. They looked like they were practically baby lobsters. So we couldn’t resist but put them together with a ketchup heart before we…well, you know…

If you like Cajun spices, you’ll like Kickin’ Crab. My cousin thought the food was a bit salty, but I thought it was just salty enough, not as bad as Boiling Crab. In terms of taste, I would say Kickin’ Crab is just as good as Seafood Shack. Maybe it’s the overwhelming Cajun spices that make it hard for me to decide; so, both places are equally good. 😀
