ichi ichi Fusion Shabu & Tempura Rowland Heights CA, shabu shabu, hot pot, raw meat, cook your own meat, beef, pork, japanese food, japanese restaurant, seafood, soup, meat soup

Well, it’s no Red Pot, but I think it comes pretty close.

My good friend took me here for lunch for my birthday. I jumped right on it when she mentioned Ichi Ichi. Ichi Ichi is a Japanese style hot pot restaurant where you can cook your own meats and vegetables. If you’re the kind of person who likes having food being fed to you, you’ll probably hate this place. 😛

You pick from a list of soup bases, including spicy pork bone, Thai hot and sour, curry, miso, cream corn, tom yum, traditional Japanese kombu soup base (which is like, water), etc. Then you move on to picking what kind of meat you want. And the veggies are pretty much selected for you by default.

This is not an all-you-can-eat like Red Pot, so the entire meal you’re looking at about $20 more, depending on whether you want to order an extra side of meat (12 pieces of pork or beef for about $6 bucks.) My selections were: spicy pork bone soup base, with beef – 10 slices – and an extra side of pork – 12 slices.

You are also presented with a variety of different sauces to dip your meat and veggies. Everything is yummy here. The soup is delicious and has the right amount of spicy. I’ve never thought I’d say this about meat – but the pork looks pretty. 😀 Both my beef and pork were soft and fresh.

This was probably my fifth or sixth time here so yes, I highly recommend. 🙂
