Seafood Kingdom, Anaheim, CA

We had yet another big family dinner at Seafood Kingdom in Anaheim. Being from a big family, celebrating each occasion like a birthday or a graduation individually gets exhausting and pricey. So what’s the sensible thing to do? Celebrate everything at once! 😀

Seafood Kingdom isn’t exactly on top of my list but I didn’t get to choose this time. But I figured let’s give it another try to see if they’ve made any improvements. Well, some dishes were decent, but others failed me big time.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, honey walnut shrimp, shrimp, honey shrimp, shrimp, fried shrimp, deep fried shrimp, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

I’m a fan of honey walnut shrimp, and this dish was one of the better tasting ones out of all the others. Shrimp deep fried and smothered in mayo, topped with crispy honey walnuts. The shrimp was crispy which I liked.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, cold appetizer, vegetarian cold dish, soy sausages, vegetarian food, vegetarian, soy, veggie soy, seafood restaurant, chinese seafood, vegetarian seafood restaurant, chinese restaurant

This is a popular cold dish that consists of various Chinese sausages, eggs, seaweed, veggies, chicken, duck, etc. The items vary by restaurants. But this dish here was vegetarian so everything was made with soy and tofu.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, crab soup, seafood crab soup, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

Crab soup was delicious, but didn’t have enough crab in it. These things would taste better with shark fins but since that’s illegal now…

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, bo luc lac, french style beef, sizzling beef, beef cubes, steak, beef salad, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

French style beef was sub-par. The nice presentation couldn’t hide the fact that the beef was old and tasteless.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, ginger clams, boiled clams, clams, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

Ginger and jalapeno clams. The clams were a pretty good size and meaty.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, calamari, spicy fried squid, deep fried squid, fried calamari, fried squid, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

Deep fried calamari. This was actually good. It was crispy and lightly salted, topped with chopped jalapeno for that extra spicy kick.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, fried chicken, ga nuong, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

Fried chicken. Nothing special. I thought the meat might have been overcooked so it was a little dry.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, shrimp balls, shrimp balls crab, crab shrimp balls, crab claws, shrimp, crab, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

Shrimp balls. Another one of my favorites at seafood restaurants. Crab claw inside ground shrimp, then rolled into a ball, deep fried, and dipped with sweet tomato sauce.

Seafood Kingdom Anaheim CA, scallops, stir fried scallops, vegetables, seafood restaurant, seafood, chinese restaurant, chinese seafood restaurant, chinese food

Stir fried scallops with vegetables. I would’ve preferred large scallops, not the tiny little ones that come in a frozen package.

Seafood Cove 2 would be a better choice if you were in a mood for better Chinese food. I think my family picked Seafood Kingdom only because the place wouldn’t be as busy and we would have all four 10-person tables ready soon as we get there. 🙂 While most of the food was sub-par, we still had a good time spending with family. 😉
