Although I’m a seeker of non-chain lesser known restaurants and tend to enjoy an occasional fine dining experience, I sometimes find myself stumbling into a place like Hometown Buffet. As a “wise man” (aka my friend) said, you gotta keep it real once in a while.
Just imagine yourself driving to multiple restaurants: Taco Bell, KFC, Olive Garden, Bubba Shrimp, etc. But why make several stops when you can get it all in one place? That’s how I see Hometown Buffet – many choices of “fast food” for one low price of $13 a person. Hey, all you can eat fried chicken? What?! How can I say no? Though not one single type of food really screamed out at me, I do have to admit their fried chicken is super delicious; almost tastes like fried chicken at Roscoe’s.
What’s on my plate: biscuit, prime rib, delish fried chicken, fried shrimp, rotisserie chicken wing, mashed potato with beef gravy, and mac and cheese. My buffet strategy is to fill my plate with sample sized portions so I can eat a little bit of everything and come back for more should I really love something. They don’t have a whole lot of dessert options – just cookies, brownies, chocolate cake, cookie cake, and a soft serve ice cream machine that keeps exploding on me because there wasn’t much left.
