I have a friend whose diet consists of American food, no exercise, late-night eating, 2-hour sleeps, and American food. Yet, she still looks like she hasn’t gained a single pound in ten years. Yup, we all have *that* friend. 😀 It was her birthday and she picked 25 Degrees (not to confuse with 85C degrees bakery) burger bar right by the beach in Huntington Beach. It’s a good thing I like burgers.
Any restaurant that has a “make your own” option is alright by me! That’s why restaurants like Pieology, The Counter, and Which Wich are among my favorites. 25 Degrees is a burgers restaurant/bar that lets you “craft” your own burger. But the downside is you have to pay a dollar for each thing you add on.
A standard burger comes with lettuce, onions, tomato, and pickle. If you want the fancy add-on’s like red pepper, cheese, bacon, sauce, etc., they range from $.50 cents to $1.00 each item. I added the stuff that I recognize from the menu, or words that I can spell – bacon, Chipotle, and Swiss cheese. I think by the end of my friend’s birthday lunch, I paid $20 for my food plus a portion of hers.
I couldn’t resist the “half and half” option which consists of giant onion rings and sweet potato fries (the other option is regular fries.) The fries were good, but the onion rings were rather soft and not crispy like I would’ve liked so by the end of the meal the rings were already soggy and drenched in oil.
It’s a cool and relaxing atmosphere, and being that it’s a bar, it’s not too noisy so it is possible to actually have conversations with your friends. They have long connected tables which is good for birthday gatherings.
One cool thing I noticed – which has nothing to do with the restaurant – is that there are metered parking spots across the street, meters that take credit cards! 🙂 I mean, it’s 2013, who carries a bunch of coins with them anymore, right? Forget gun-banning; Obama should put out more credit-card-taking parking meters!
