Thai Harmony Cafe, Diamond Bar, CA

Thai Harmony Cafe Diamond Bar CA, fried rice, spicy fried rice, fried egg, pork fried rice, thai food, thai restaurant

I really don’t understand why Thai Harmony Cafe gets four star ratings online. This was the second time I got take-out for lunch and twice I was disappointed. This time, not just at the food.

I called during lunch for take-out, and was put on hold for what felt like eternity. I only have thirty minutes for lunch so I couldn’t waste all of it waiting for someone to take my order. So, while being on hold, I hopped in my car and started driving. I thought to myself, how funny would it be if I’m still on hold the minute I reach their counter? Well, turns out, it wasn’t funny at all, as I reached their counter, STILL ON HOLD, and saw their phone on the counter STILL off the hook. I wanted to laugh but I was too irritated. I was greeted by the lady who answered the phone, and I waved my phone in front of her informing her that I’m the person on the phone apparently being ignored. Showing no signs of remorse, she simply said “Sorry.” Wow. Alright. Whatever, I was already there, I was hungry, my lunch time was twindling down, so I proceeded to order pork fried rice with the lady, and then the waiting game began. They were so busy, and there just weren’t enough people working the kitchen or the counter. The restaurant itself is a small little hole, and I sat at one of the tables that was connected to other tables, feeling claustrophobic. But I pulled out my phone and played some games trying to ignore it all. About twenty minutes later my food was finally ready. I think I had spent about fifty minutes overall so I was obviously coming back to work late. Thanks a lot “Harmony”!

The rice sucked. It was bland, it was not spicy, the pork (all four pieces of them) was tasteless. Thai Chili still makes the best fried rice. Had the food been good I would have been a little more forgiving of this whole customer service experience. But nope. All around fail.

I mean, I’m the kind of person who gives second chances, reasoning that maybe it’s just that one dish wasn’t very good (oily rice noodles), and maybe they make other dishes better. Well, I was wrong. Thai Harmony Cafe just isn’t a restaurant that deserves any chances, period. Good bye.
